With life and death inevitable, what matters and what we have control over is how we move through life.
By Kari Fulmek

When you realized that you are empowered to control yourself, it changes almost everything about your life.

It is much easier to shoot straight from the hip. Say what you mean and mean what you say!
You are less inclined to bottle stuff up inside of you and worry or stress about things. Worrying is an act of the powerless. The empowered person accepts that they have no control over the future; they can only decide things in the here and now. Worry is pointless, because you have no control over worry.

Being empowered means that you don’t have to say yes when you want to say no, because it is okay to look after yourself and your needs. You realize that another person’s life is not going to be marginally better because you agreed to be a martyr and serve on a committee that you see no purpose to.

Most significantly, being empowered means that you accept there is a beginning and end to the unique story of your life.

The beginning is marked by your birth on this planet as a living human being among an amazing collection of other living beings. The end is ultimately your death and the passing on of your energy.

With an acceptance that life and death are inevitable, you become extraordinarily aware that all you have control over is how you move through life. Your focus is intensified.

It becomes logical to learn to live in the present, to avoid delaying what you want to do with your life, and to live it fully and authentically.

You have a limited time period to uncover your personal gift and hone it and find avenues for it to live and grow and help others.

True empowerment leads to life lived fuller. At the end of the day, all you can hope for is that you did your best and live again to do a little more to empower others.
