Scheduling… its a bit of a toughie. Especially if you have more than one person dealing with it. Whenever I think of that one person in the office who is in charge of scheduling (or maybe should be), I think of Monica from friends. Bright, beautiful, organized and perhaps a little anal. THAT gets a schedule laid out proper!

However, that type A personality can have the ability to run into a bit of conflict with others in the office. A lot of the time, you will have your front office shouting, “get out of my scheduling book” and the back office saying, “but you aren’t scheduling it right!” This can cause a lot of conflict in any office and especially in medical and dental practices.

The scheduling of any office can significantly affect your clients or patients. It is what shows them how organized your company is. It inspires trust in you and your staff. Having to reschedule (or schedule 6 months out) doesn’t always allow people to be able to trust that you will be there for them when you need to.

So how does that Monica personality fit in? Beautifully! As long as communication from the team is involved. Think about the time when Monica was Phoebe’s wedding planner. What needed to be scheduled and the stress that it caused actually got Monica fired by one of her best friends.

But even after that, it becomes undeniable why Monica did so well with that role. Once that type A personality leaves the position, things can go to hell in a handbasket pretty darn quick.

So who is the Monica within your group of “Friends”? How do you all work together? Is there a communication meltdown?

Once again, everything boils down to communication within different personality types and the acceptance and appreciation for everyone on a team. This is why team building and workshops that optimize communication are essential. Not only for your clients, but also for your teams to ensure their happiness and wellbeing at work. When we understand how others communicate and WHY they communicate that way, it can help us all to have a better work environment for all.

And to finish off let’s just look at a few fun Monica quotes. Why? Cause they make me giggle.

“Now, I need you to be careful and efficient. And remember: If I am harsh with you, it’s only because you’re doing it wrong.”

NO! NOT LIKE THAT! … YOU’VE GOTTA—YOU WANNA FOLD THEM LIKE SWANS. LIKE I SHOWED YOU AT CHRISTMAS TIME, REMEMBER?”

Not just clean, “Monica” clean.

Remember, your Monica serves a purpose, and through communications skill development, they can better learn to work with others, do their job to the fullest and keep your clients happy!
